New Hope School is an international, interfaith learning community devoted to the academic excellence and character development of its students. A strong character education program as well as implementation of the Core Knowledge curriculum enhances the school’s ability to carry out its mission. Last year we added a kindergarten class and began the creation of a separate playground space for smaller children. We have also added an after school tutoring program, developed a school choir and recently began offering a martial arts class on Friday afternoons with the help of one of our parents.
As we continue to develop our program we would like to invite you to one of our monthly Open Houses. At our first Open House last week, 8 sets of parents expressed interest in enrolling their children for the next school year. The next Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, February 28, 6:00-8:00 pm.
We would like to congratulate Richard Adam for winning this year’s school spelling bee. Richard will be representing New Hope School in the North Jersey Regional Spelling Bee at Bergen Community College in March. The school runner-up was Maanav Shah.
Please note that New Hope’s 3rd annual International Cultural Night will be taking place Friday, March 2. We are asking our students' parents to contribute something from their culture, whether it be food, entertainment, a display, or native dress, to help us to learn about and appreciate one another more fully. Everyone from the community is invited.
This month we are introducing an online student grade and parent-teacher communication service through TeacherEase. We hope this will facilitate the school's reports and communication with parents.
The Virtues-of-the-Month for February are Loyalty and Devotion. These qualities are important to nurture in children in their inner character and in their friendships. This month students will have the opportunity to participate in St. Jude Hospital’s Math-a-thon to help children with cancer get life-saving treatments. We encourage parental support of this. We also encourage parental support of our catalogue fundraiser. Later this month, we will be sending out information about our annual Race for Education set for April and the Tricky Tray to be held in May.
Happy St. Valentine’s Day, and God bless you!
